Kites, Not Warplanes
A downloadable game
Kites have long been a symbol of Palestinian resilience and protest against oppression. In 2011, Gazan children set a Guinness World Record for most kites flown simultaneously.
Hala Fayyad, a young girl from Gaza, told ABC News "We fly kites instead of warplanes" in March 2024 during a kite festival that the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) hosted in Rafah to lift children’s spirits.
For Hala and all Palestinian children who have died or are currently suffering as a consequence of Israel’s ongoing genocide, I invite you and your friends to sit down for a while, possibly in the open air, to each make a kite while you tell each other stories of hope, freedom, community and resistance.
